Maria Soledad Chavez peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday morning, September 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, and was welcomed into the arms of her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. She was 98 years old.
Born on May 8, 1927, in Cualcomán, Michoacán, to Hermelinda Castañeda and Rafael Alvarez, Maria lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to her family. She is lovingly remembered and survived by her four daughters, three sons, 31 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren, along with her sister, cherished nephews and nieces.
A devoted Catholic, Maria was deeply involved in the life of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she faithfully served for many years as a member of the Guadalupanas and the Nocturnal Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Her faith and love for God guided her throughout her long and blessed life.
