Maria Venegas Valero

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Maria Venegas Valero, age 98, of Yettem, CA. She peacefully departed in her sleep on May 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, dedication, and a love for hard work and her blooming garden.

Maria was born on April 4, 1928, in Cuxpala, Zacatecas, Mexico to Rufino Venegas Lopez and Francisca Luna Arellano. She was one of 7 siblings and grew up in Cuxpala, where she met her beloved husband, Jose Valero. They were married in 1943 and, in the mid-1950s, immigrated to the United States with their three sons, Maurilio, Rito and Jose. They originally settled in Woodlake, CA, where they worked as farm laborers. In 1959, they moved to Yettem, CA, where together they built a successful catering business years later. Maria continued that business for many years after Jose’s passing in 1991. Their marriage spanned 48 years, rooted in love, partnership, and resilience. Remarkably, Maria carried on the catering business until 2020, working until she was 92 and only stopped because of the pandemic.

Maria was the epitome of a hard worker, approaching life with an indomitable spirit and a spunky personality. Time and again, she proved that no obstacle was too great to overcome. Her tireless work ethic was matched only by her green thumb. She found great joy in tending to her yard, nurturing her beloved flowers and trees.

Above all, Maria loved being surrounded by her family. Her home was a warm and welcoming place, often filled with laughter during celebrations, birthdays, and holidays. Some of her greatest joys came from the lively visits of her sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear family friends.

She is survived by her sons, Maurilio (Alicia) Valero, Rito (Graciela) Valero, and Jose (Julie) Valero; her cherished grandchildren, Christina, Alex, Angie, Joeciey, Rito Jr., Joey, Jen, Joseph, and Josh; 14 great-grandchildren, Hector, Caterina, Micaela, Vanessa, Briana, Kaylee, Adam, Kassandra, Daniel, Savannah, Kalista, Rocco, Jordan, and Augustine; two great-great-grandchildren Carmel and Ila; and a wide circle of loving extended family members who will forever miss her quick wit and loving smile.

She was preceded in death by her first son, Beto, husband, Jose, her grandson, Jerry and siblings Emilia, Antonia, Fortunato, Santos, Pedro and Faustino.

Con profundo pesar y gran amor, anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestra querida madre y abuela, Maria Venegas Valero, de 98 años, residente de Yettem, California. Falleció pacíficamente mientras dormía el 27 de mayo de 2026, dejando un legado de fortaleza, dedicación y amor por el trabajo duro y su floreciente jardín.

Maria nació el 4 de abril de 1928 en Cuxpala, Zacatecas, México, hija de Rufino Venegas López y Francisca Luna Arellano. Fue una de siete hermanos y creció en Cuxpala, donde conoció a su amado esposo, José Valero. Contrajeron matrimonio en 1943 y, a mediados de la década de 1950, emigraron a los Estados Unidos con sus tres hijos: Maurilio, Rito y José. Inicialmente se establecieron en Woodlake, California, donde trabajaron como jornaleros agrícolas. En 1959 se mudaron a Yettem, California, donde años más tarde fundaron juntos un exitoso negocio de servicios de banquetes. Maria continuó con el negocio durante muchos años tras el fallecimiento de José en 1991. Su matrimonio duró 48 años, cimentado en el amor, el compañerismo y la resiliencia. Cabe destacar que Maria mantuvo el negocio de banquetes hasta el año 2020; trabajó hasta los 92 años y solo se detuvo debido a la pandemia.

Maria fue el ejemplo perfecto de trabajadora incansable, afrontando la vida con un espíritu indomable y una personalidad vivaz. Una y otra vez demostró que ningún obstáculo era demasiado grande para ser superado. Su ética de trabajo incansable solo era igualada por su gran habilidad para la jardinería; encontraba una enorme alegría cuidando su jardín y cultivando sus amadas flores y árboles.

Por encima de todo, a Maria le encantaba estar rodeada de su familia. Su hogar era un lugar cálido y acogedor, a menudo lleno de risas durante celebraciones, cumpleaños y días festivos. Algunas de sus mayores alegrías provenían de las animadas visitas de sus hijos, nietos, bisnietos, sobrinos y queridos amigos de la familia.

Le sobreviven sus hijos: Maurilio (Alicia) Valero, Rito (Graciela) Valero y José (Julie) Valero; sus queridos nietos: Christina, Alex, Angie, Joeciey, Rito Jr., Joey, Jen, Joseph y Josh; 14 bisnietos: Hector, Caterina, Micaela, Vanessa, Briana Valero, Kaylee Valero, Adam Valero, Kassandra, Daniel, Savannah, Kalista, Rocco, Jordan, y Augustine; dos tataranietos, Carmel y Ila; y un amplio círculo de cariñosos familiares que siempre extrañarán su agudo ingenio y su sonrisa amorosa.

Le precedieron en la muerte su primer hijo, Beto; su esposo, Jose; su nieto, Jerry; y sus hermanos Emilia, Antonia, Fortunato, Santos, Pedro y Faustino.
