Melissa Renee Bearden, known affectionately as “Nae Nae” by those closest to her, age 54, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, in Visalia, California. Born on November 29, 1971, in Visalia, she was raised in Dinuba, California, and remained a proud local resident throughout her life. She was a devoted member of Christ Believer’s Church.
For over 20 years, Melissa dedicated her career to the Dinuba Unified School District in Food Service, working proudly as a "Lunch Lady," as she would affectionately call herself. She brought warmth, a smile, and care to students and staff every single day.
In 2023, Melissa was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She became a true fighter, battling the disease with immense courage for just over three years. Throughout her journey, her constant testimony was that she had a personal discussion with God expressing her deep desire to live.
Throughout her battle, Melissa was blessed with an amazing support team. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to her exceptional care team at Bryson Cancer Center, her in-home care team from Kaweah, and, above all, those who loved her beyond words: her devoted dad, sister, extended family, and true friends who stood faithfully by her side. She also deeply cherished her beloved pets—Bubbles, Butterball, Little Red, and last but not least, her puppy Ottis—who brought her immense joy and companionship.
Melissa is survived by her father, Ronald Bearden, and her sister, Ronda Bearden. She was preceded in death by her mother, Cliffie Hutcheson Bearden, affectionately known as “Sissy,” as well as her grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on August 24, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Dopkins Chapel, located at 189 S. J Street in Dinuba, California, with a graveside service to follow at Smith Mountain Cemetery, located at 42088 Rd. 100 in Dinuba, California. Services will be officiated by Pastor Ed Thiesen.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day.” — 2 Timothy 4:7-8
