

Michiko Naito Ikeda, 95, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2015, in Reedley, CA surrounded by her family. She was born on February 24, 1920 in Fresno, CA. The oldest daughter of Shigeo and Tsuru Naito, Michi attended school in Orosi, graduating from Orosi High School in 1938 and Visalia Jr. College in 1940. She married Toru Ikeda on Valentine’s Day, 1942 in San Juan Bautista. At the onset of WWII, Michi and her family were interned at Poston Arizona Relocation Center, where daughter Kiyomi was born. The family moved from Poston to Seabrook, New Jersey in 1945 then back to Reedley in 1948 where Michi lived for 68 years. She worked as a bookkeeper/office manager for Jackson’s Service for over 40 years.
Michi is survived by grandchildren, Kenneth (Kimberly) Takahashi, Kristen (Tony) Del Cont, Kurtis (Stacy) Takahashi; eight great-grandchildren, sisters, Sumie Okita, Sets Kimura, Amy Naito, brother, Shig (Namie)Naito, sisters-in-law, Amy Naito, Nana Naito, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Toru; daughter, Kiyomi Takahashi; grandson, Kyle Takahashi; siblings, Tak Naito, Mits Naito, and Mari Hiyama.
Michi will be remembered for her independent spirit, her love of desserts, her generosity in sharing her scrubbies, and her affection for animals.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at Dopkins Funeral Chapel, in Dinuba. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Reedley Buddhist Church, 2035 15th Street, followed by burial at Reedley Cemetery.
