Terry Lynn Braden Nichols went to her heavenly home April 24, 2025. She was born on June 6, 1947, to Elmer Eugene Braden and Helen Elizabeth nee Thomas, both of whom preceded her in death. She has three brothers: David, Gerald and Anthony. She moved with her parents to Colorado Springs as a toddler, returning to CA in 1984. She married her second husband, Gordon Lee Nichols, on Nov. 2, 1986 in Las Vegas. They had 40 wonderful years together before Gordon preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2025.
Terry attended classes at Blair Business College gaining secretarial skills including shorthand. After her first marriage in 1970, her time was consumed with church activities and being a homemaker meal-planning and cooking. During her marriage, she learned many different crafts: crocheting, fabric painting and working with plastic canvas.
Once confined to bed, Terry added new interests which included crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and coloring apps on her electronic devices. She also used social media to keep in touch with her family. Terry was a lifelong reader and loved mysteries. She spent many hours reading first paperbacks then electronic books.
According to her friends and family, Terry was one of the most loving, forgiving and least judgmental people they knew. She believed in God and prayed nightly for others even ones she had never met.
She will be greatly missed by her two daughters: Liz (Ralph) Brothers, MN and Shayla Logan (Jackie Houtz), NC. Cousin that was like a sister Pat (Mike) Fluegge, CO.
A year ago, Terry met her daughter Shayla. Despite Terry’s disabilities and struggles she traveled from California to North Carolina to meet her. Her daughter said she loved her Mom’s hugs because you could feel her love when she hugged you.
She leaves behind Her Aunt Donna Wells of Colorado, her uncle Bill Thomas of California, many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends (especially through FaceBook). Also, three grandchildren James Begg, Destiny Gorman, Jean Gorman and one great granddaughter Taleah.
She was a caregiver for many family members for years. She had a heart of gold and always wanted to do for others above herself.
Terry loved the Lord and remained faithful to the beauty of giving to others. We are blessed with Terry that she lived and leaves a legacy of love and great memories!
Thank you to all the staff at Delta Nursing and Rehab for the care and kindness they gave to Terry. A very special thank you to Malcolm Light with Bristol Hospice from the Visalia Office who went above and beyond helping our family and Terry for many months.
Donations in Memory of Terry would be greatly appreciated to Bristol Hospice the Visalia Office.
