Doni Stein

Doni Stein, age 92, of Floral Park, New York passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. She was a devoted and beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a friend to all. From her origins on the Lower East Side of Manhattan to her home in Flushing, Queens where she raised her family, to Morris Cottages in Kiamesha Lake where she spent summers, to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where she wintered, to North Shore Towers where she lived the last part of her life, she made her mark. She was a showman who regaled everyone with her Yiddish ditties, an athlete who dominated in the parks on the Lower East Side, and an avid card shark. No matter the activity, her larger-than-life character and indefatigable spirit attracted an ardent crowd of admirers. She expected little and wanted for nothing, forging through challenges and disappointments without looking back. Her commitment to never taking life for granted made her an ideal role model and cheerleader for her friends and loved ones.

A service will be held at Beth Moses Cemetery at 1500 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY, at 1:00 on Wednesday, August 30th. Shiva will be held at her residence at 27110 Grand Central Parkway, Floral Park, NY immediately following the service and on Thursday the 31st at 2:00.
