Ezra Satz

Ezra Satz, 85, passed away Monday, July 27. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Ezra was a talented student and athlete. He earned a basketball scholarship to attend Kent State University in Ohio before transferring to Brooklyn College, where he completed his studies in the sciences and continued his athletic pursuits.

After graduating, Ezra taught biology at George Gershwin Junior High School in Brooklyn, where he also coached basketball, before later teaching at Parsons Junior High School in Queens. Following his teaching career, he owned and operated several businesses.

With more than 38 years of continuous recovery in the Narcotics Anonymous Fellowship, Ezra served as a mentor and inspiration to countless members. He will be remembered for his charisma, generosity, storytelling, and quirky jokes. Among Ezra’s many interests were Art Deco and Art Nouveau antiques, Buddhist philosophy, horticulture, and animals.

Ezra is survived by his children, Matthew and Lisa, and his grandchildren, Cy and Sara.

Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, July 31, at 2:30 p.m. at Mt Ararat Cemetery in Lindenhurst. Please meet at the Mt. Ararat Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
