Shocked to hear the sad news! Considered you a good friend and I will miss our frequent talks about the Mets/Yankees and life in general. Howard was a great guy who was a lot of fun to be around. He will be greatly missed.

I heard this news and I simply can't believe it.  What a tragedy.  I was Howie's camp counselor when he was 10 years old and he was the sweetest greatest kid and although we haven't been in touch for more than thirty plus years, I will never forget him. May god give strength and blessings to Howie's family.

I knew Howie since he was 10 years old and I can't recall ever seeing him without a smile on his face.  He was a great guy who will be missed.
