To the Maltz family,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. My prayers are with you.
John was my first supervisor in NYC in the early 70's . His unwavering and unique loyalty and dedication to narcotic law enforcement and to his fellow agents will always remain as his legacy.

He was my first supervisor when I stared in NY and made a lasting impression on me about dedication and "doing it right". I will miss him but will not forget him--he was "one of a kind".

It is sad to hear about a life ending and even harder when it is someone you know. I have fond memories of John and his dedication to DEA and the law enforcement community. He was so proud of his family. When John was the Agent in Charge (Assoc/SAC) of the NYDETF, I recall him telling me many times that his son Derek would follow his footsteps and someday take his chair. At the time I laughed…well John I am glad you lived to see that happen. As a DEA legend you will be missed! Thanks for your service to your country, and for the support you gave to your brothers and sisters in law enforcement. My prayers and deepest sympathy go out to your beloved family. John may you rest in peace… you deserve it

My heartfelt condolences to the Maltz family. I worked closely with John in the FBN in New York in the 1960's. While our contact was limited over the years, I and will always remember his dedication to the job and his colleagues. Rest in Peace my friend.
