Dear Lila’s Family,

There are no words to express how heartbroken I am to lose Lila. She was not only a dear friend, but also someone who brought so much warmth, kindness, and joy into my life.

I will always treasure the beautiful memories we shared—celebrating Lunar New Year, Passover, and Thanksgiving with our families, talking for hours in her study, going out to enjoy wonderful food, and meeting weekly at Barnes & Nobl Café, where she patiently helped me practice my English. I’ll never forget how she drove so fast that I had to close my eyes while she laughed and enjoyed every moment like a young girl. There are so many beautiful memories like these that I could never write them all down. They bring tears to my eyes, but also a smile to my heart.

Lila, I wish I had one more chance to see you, hold you close, and say goodbye. There are still so many things I wish I could have told you.

You once told me that if there were another life, you would want to be a musician—a cellist. I hope that in another life, we will meet again, and I will have the joy of sitting beside you and listening to you play.

You will always have a special place in my heart. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

To Lila’s family, please accept my deepest sympathy and love. May the beautiful memories of Lila bring you comfort and strength.

With love,
Wendy

A Memory of Lila

This picture holds such a special memory for me. This was one of Lila’s birthdays when Aretha and I brought her these beautiful flowers. She was always so full of life, smiling and enjoying herself.
Lila loved to drive, and one thing I will always admire about her was how she always pushed herself. I didn’t have to encourage her—she was determined on her own. She never wanted to give up. She always wanted to do things for herself and keep going. I loved watching her strength, determination, and independence.
After caring for Lila for four years, she became more than just my patient. She became someone very special to me, and I will forever cherish the memories we shared.
Rest peacefully, Lila. You will always have a special place in my heart.
With love,
Addie
