Maurice ‘Murray’ Barbash. Loving husband, father and grandfather, visionary builder, conservationist, Mozart lover, avid skier, loyal friend, devoted to the welfare of others. Led the fight to preserve Fire Island as a National Seashore. Died of complications from bypass surgery. 88 years old. Survived by his wife of 65 years, Lillian; children Cathy, Susan and Shepard; grandchildren Emma, Ani, Jonah, Lydia, Sam and Eddie. Services Friday 10 am at Bay Shore Jewish Center, 26 N. Clinton Ave. Bay Shore, NY. The family will sit at 30 Bayway Ave. Brightwaters 1-3 and 7-9 pm March 16 and 3-7 pm March 17-18. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Murray’s name to the Department of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery of the Hofstra-North Shore/LIJ School of Medicine.
