

Born and raised in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, N.Y., Melvin was the son of the late Harry and Bessie Bluver. He honored his country by serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and was honorably discharged. He was a proud graduate of New York University and worked for many years as a sales executive for the Foster Grant and Cool Ray sunglass companies.
His family was the most important part of his life. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lillian (Kilman) Bluver of East Northport, N.Y., and by his three children and their spouses: Howard and Debbie Bluver of Port Washington, N.Y.; Ellen and John Moran of South Windsor, CT; and Robert and Jill Bluver of East Northport, N.Y.; eight grandchildren: Jennifer, David and Sarah Bluver, Brian, William and Christopher Moran, and Amanda and Ethan Bluver.
A graveside service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Beth David Cemetery, Elmont, N.Y. Family and friends are invited to gather for shiva from 3-8 p.m. at 74 Litchfield Road, Port Washington.
