Krach – Michelle, 60, passed away at her home in Deer Park on December 28th from Glioblastoma (an aggressive form of brain cancer). She fought this battle with dignity and grace every day for three plus years but finally had succumbed to it. She was surrounded by family and friends around her. Michelle was born in the Bronx, NY to her parents, Selma and Irwin Ehrenfreund. She grew up in Deer Park along with her brother, Bryan, and attended Half Hollow Hills schools where she helped administratively with the football, wrestling, and lacrosse teams. She graduated from Hills East in 1982 and started Hofstra University the same year. Michelle wanted to live on campus, even though she lived close by in Deer Park. She became an RA at Hofstra to help offset the cost of the room and board. She made lots of good friends that she still has today. She joined the Phi-Epsilon sorority where she was given the name of “Bambi”. Michelle worked at White Castle, then worked at Adventureland, and then started working at Newsday in 1982 while still attending college. She was selected to be in Who’s Who among students in American Universities & Colleges for 1986. She worked at Newsday for 40 years. She started working there as a part-time paper measurer and worked her way up to Advertising Director. She enjoyed solving problems and liked to help anyone who needed it. She enjoyed interpreting for some of her friends at Newsday who were deaf by using sign language. She was also known for making delicious rice pudding. She enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting her friends. She enjoyed watching UCF football and the NY Giants. She loved dogs of all types and was especially fond of dogs being rescued. She would volunteer at New York Bully Crew to walk dogs and just give them much needed love. She had adopted rescue dogs from all different organizations five different times.
Michelle is survived by her parents, Selma and Irwin Ehrenfreund, her mother-in-law, Mary Ellen, her husband of 33 years, Steve, their children Austin and Rachel (Michael), brother Bryan (Neila), nieces Brittany and Alexa (Kyle), and brother in laws James and Thomas (Peri)
