It is with great sadness that the family of Neil Isser Greenberg announces his passing on February 26, 2022. Neil died of complications from metastatic cancer after a most courageous 5-year battle. He was born on May 21, 1940, in Cornwall, New York to Rose and Alexander (Big Al) Greenberg. He is survived by his daughter Kim, son-in-law Arnaud Tesson and grandson Alex; his son Eric, daughter-in-law Diana and granddaughters Devyn, Logan, Taryn and Quinlan; his sister Carole Levine, brother-in-law Barry, niece Jill and nephew Andy and his wife Cindy, and his sister-in-law, Susan Shurow. He also leaves behind his beloved friend, confidant, and significant other Mona Lupow. Neil was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Judy. Together they built a loving and prosperous life for themselves and their children. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. After graduating elementary school, Neil attended Lakemont Academy in Utica, New York, where he played varsity football. He then attended American University in Washington DC, where he and Judy met, followed by Brooklyn Law School. After practicing law in Huntington, New York, Neil entered the family business, a retail jewelry shop in Brooklyn Heights. After many successful years, the passing of his parents and the burden of the lengthy commute between Brooklyn and Huntington led Neil to sell the retail store. He moved his office to Huntington and devoted himself primarily to representing insurance companies who retained him to evaluate lost valuable items. In that endeavor, he was highly respected for his extraordinary diligence and honesty, and as a result had many years of success and friendship. Neil, always a smile on his face and a kind word for all, will be sorely missed. In this most complicated world, he was the person to turn to and spend time with. In fact, in the world of jewelry, he was the gem.
A funeral service for Neil will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 1:00 PM at I. J. Morris, 21 E Deer Park Rd, Dix Hills, New York 11746. Following the funeral service will be an interment at 2:15 PM at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, New York 11704.
