He was born to Matthew and Rita Kammerling on March 18th 1941. After graduating from Great Neck High School he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. From there he served 4 years in the United States Air Force where he met his wife Rosalie Vajda.
Married 56 years, Richard and Rosalie raised 4 daughters Marisa Von Beeden (Mark Von Beeden), Anne Marie Kammerling, (D) Alicia Kammerling (D) and Natalie Garbedian (Michael Garbedian). And he was the proud Grandfather to Haley Kammerling, Jessie O’Hagan, Matthew Kearns, Ryan Kearns, Natasha Von Beeden, Raiden Garbedian and Autumn Rose Garbedian.
For 53 years, Temple Beth El of Huntington had been a source of religious inspiration, where he served as President of the congregation and met many of his life-long friends.
Richard’s career in the Integrated Pest Management Industry spanned over 50 years. As president and owner of RK Pest Management Services he developed new pest control technologies, conducted pest management inspections, provided technical support and designed food safety and IPM programs. Many of Richard’s business relationships evolved into lasting friendships.
His memory will always bring smiles to out hearts when we remember his corny jokes, his sarcasm, his love of the Giants and mostly importantly his family who he loved unconditionally.
