I just heard today unfortunately about Sammy. Ihave shopped at the stores since 1967 in Brooklyn. I was 10 at the time.
I continue to shop at the stores. I just want to say thank you to the whole Ash family & God Bless Sam & his family.
I always felt like a kid in a candy store when I walked into a Sam Ash Music store. I havent seen Richie in years. I remeber Rose also.

Our  heartfelt condolences to the Ash family.. We knew Sam for a relatively short time.  Mark was a fellow patient at Spring Hill and a fellow guitar collector (Best Guitars)  Mark, Sam and I met daily on the patio.   Sam always was positive and cheerful with amazing stories to share. He never complained or felt sorry for himself.  He brought us smiles even on bleak days.  He was brilliant and a lover of life!  He always thought of some new inventions which were totally impressive.. I quickly realized what a special guy he was.    He was one of the kindest people I have ever known and he endeared himself to us right away.  We are very saddened to hear that he passed.  His light will continue to shine in our hearts!  RIP Sammy…

My sincere condolence to the Ash families for the loss of a beloved family member. While I never met Sammy, that I am aware of, I thank the entire family for all they have done in support of Music over many years now.  My journey began a long time ago, at the 48th St store, and continues to this day Thank you all for everything you do, I look forward to jamming with Sammy when we all meet together one day in the future.

As a music rep who has serviced this wonderful family for many years  I can tell you that Sammy was kind and quite brilliant. He represented this iconic music family with dignity and hard work and a wonderful personality. The Sam Ash family built the music business in my world and so many others.  We will miss him forever.

So sorry to hear about Sam's passing. I knew Sam from way back in grammar school. We  lived two blocks from each other in Franklin Square. We were in the school band together. Sam played saxophone back then. I played clarinet. Later on I learned guitar, and used to frequent the Sam Ash store  in Hempstead. I remember seeing Sam there all the time. In high school I was a member of the drama club and got a part in the musical Bye Bye Birdie. Sam played the lead part of Conrad Birdie.   He stole the show! I remember attending the cast party in his basement.  I always knew Sam. to be a great person, friendly, funny, and warm hearted. Every time I walked into a Sam Ash store I always hoped I would get to see him again after all these years, but never did. His passing really hit home.
