Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Sidney was the son of the late Belle and Hyman Goldman. He grew up in Coney Island alongside his siblings, Stanley and Susan. A proud Brooklyn native, Sidney attended Lincoln High School, where he spent much of his time playing basketball. His passion for sports and fitness led him to Brooklyn College, where he majored in physical education.
Following his studies, Sidney proudly joined the Marine Reserves, where he put his mechanical skills to work maintaining helicopters. Later in life, he transitioned into the tech industry, building a successful career as a computer programmer for New York Life.
The true cornerstone of Sidney’s life began on a fateful night at the Gil Hodges bowling alley, where he met his wife, Ellen. The two shared an immediate, undeniable connection and were engaged just 11 months after meeting. They went on to share a deeply loving marriage of almost 47 years. Together they built a family that was the absolute center of his life.
He was a devoted father to his daughter, Hayley and her husband, Mike, and his son, Joshua and his wife, Amanda. His greatest joy was being “Poppy” to his beloved grandchildren, Stephen, Grant, Michael, and Amelia.
Sidney will be remembered for his sharp mind, sarcastic humor, and above all, his fierce devotion to his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 7th at 12:00 PM at IJ Morris Funeral Home, 21 E. Deer Park Road, Dix Hills, NY.
