Grinspan, Walter. Passed away on August 24, 2013 at the age of 87. Predeceased by loving parents David and Sadie Grinspan. Survived by beloved wife, partner, companion, teammate, nurse, warden, head cook and chief bottle washer, Mona (Gould). Son, Jeffrey (Sandra), daughters Jinny (Glenn) Simon, Randy (Phill) Klein. Grandfather of Rachel Grinspan, Jaime and Lee Simon. Sister, Shirley Gold, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Alexander Hamiliton High School. Served in U.S Navy during World War II as Radioman Second Class. Saw action in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of war. New York University graduate with Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration. Had thirteen jobs from time of Navy discharge until college graduations. Thereafter worked at the Wage Stabilization Board as analyst; New York City Department of Labor as statistician. Organizer and editor of publications for Local 400, Butcher Workmen; Educational Director and organizer for Local 40, Beltmakers Union, ILGWU; organizer for Local 302, Cafeteria Workers; organizer for Local 1500 Retail Clerks International Association; associate member of United Steel Workers, and for 37 years as National Representative and organizer, negotiator, arbitrator, executive director of various local for the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Member of Destroyer Escort Sailors Association, Destroyer Escort Historical Museum, Jewish War Veterans, Disabled American Veterans and Plainview Jewish Center. Graveside Services will be held at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Maspeth, Ny on August 26 at 11am. Memorial contributions if you want to your charity of choice.
