Bonnie Lou Berghorst

Bonnie Lou Berghorst, age 79, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026. She was preceded in death by her father, Don Chestnut; mother, Janet Perkins; stepfather, Leon Perkins. She is survived by her husband, Laverne Berghorst; son, Keith (Carrie) Berghorst; daughter, Deanne (Jarrod) Berends; grandchildren Tyler (Alena) Pagan, Cody Haveman, James Berends; great-grandchildren Justin, Weston, and Evelynn; siblings Sandy (Henry) Vandermass, Scott (Mary) Chestnut, and Janet (Matt) Gilbert; and many nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, and friends.

Bonnie had a big heart that touched everyone. She had a passion for nursing and caregiving. She loved going up to the cabin in Irons, attend family reunions, birthday parties, and any gathering where she could spread her love. She also loved having lunch with her classmates, going to Nascar races with family, and attending Susan Komen Rallies. When Bonnie wasn't at a gathering, she enjoyed volunteering at the American Legion. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th Street, Dorr, MI 49323. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2026 at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, with visitation from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service.
