Dennis Lee Roys

Dennis Lee Roys, age 85, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Margaret Roys; brothers Gene and James Roys; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Roys (wife of Gene Roys). He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barb Roys; children Kirk (Diane) Roys, Therese (Brian) Maltman, Mark Roys, Craig (Karen) Roys, and Dawn (Paul) Cook; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Jo (Paul) Drueke; sister-in-law, Sandy Roys; brothers-in-law Burrell Stein and Dennis Weber; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959-1963 where he was a Cryptologist, serving in Japan and Philippines. He was born in Grand Rapids on the west side, attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School, and went on to graduate from Catholic Central High School in 1959. After his apprenticeship at Enterprise Tool and Die he went on to work there for 39 years before retiring in 2003. After retirement, he became a master at carpentry and kept himself very busy with requests for items from family and friends. He loved to hunt, fish, and work in his yard, and spent years camping and traveling with friends and family. Dennis and Barb lived in New Salem where they raised their children, and were active members of St. Mary's Visitation Church. Their children also attended school there.

Visitation will be held from 4:30-7 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th Street, Dorr, MI 49323. A Rosary will take place 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 27 at St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic Church, 2459 146th Ave., Byron Center, MI 49315.
