Gareth “Gary” Ernest Price passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Herbert Karl Price and Viola May (Coffey) Price; brothers Herbert Price, Peter Price, and Phillip Price; and beloved granddaughter, Amber May Thorpe.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Rose Genther Price; sister, Ada Jean DenBesten; brothers Robert (Sheryl) Price, Jerry Price, Stephen “Mike” (Marla) Price; children Misty (Tom) Eding, Lisa (Gary) Gonyon, Gareth “Mitch” Price, Lacie (Jason) Moon, and Ramie (Jamie) Price; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Shirley Price and Marlene Price; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Gareth was born on September 11, 1943, and, as a young man, attended Diamond Springs Methodist Church. He served in the Army from April 1965 to April 1967. On August 10, 1968, he married Elaine Genther. They raised the five children in the Burnips/Bentheim area and attended St. Peter’s Lutheran in Dorr, Michigan, during which time he worked at Rockwell International in Allegan and then retired from Woodward FST in Zeeland.
Respected by his family and friends, he was also quick-witted, a jokester who could always make you laugh. He loved to work in his beautiful vegetable gardens and even won Grand Champion for his yellow potatoes at the Allegan County Fair. He was also a loyal fan of the Detroit Lions and Tigers. As an avid supporter of Michigan Right to Life, he was a long-time member of N. Allegan Right to Life.
A wonderful Christian father who loved his Lord and family, he was a hard worker and was on the go from morning until night. Supportive, loving, and a concerned parent, grandparent and great-grandparent, he would always give great advice…when asked. He will be sorrowfully missed by all who knew him, as he waits for us in Heaven.
Visitation will be held 2 - 2:45 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 4125 18th St. Dorr, followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. All are invited to attend the processional to Salem Township Cemetery in Burnips, Michigan. Lunch will be provided afterwards by St. Peter’s in the gym/activity room.
In lieu of flowers, Gareth wished that donations be made to RTL of Michigan Educational Fund or St. Peter’s Lutheran in Dorr. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.kubiakcookdorr.com in their online guest book.
