Harold Lee Schumaker, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a true servant of his community and country, passed away peacefully February 24, 2025 at the age of 75. His legacy of service, bravery, and selflessness will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born June 10, 1949 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Harold Lee was a proud patriot who answered the call to serve his nation as a soldier in the Vietnam War. His courage and dedication to his fellow soldiers exemplified the very best of what it means to serve. After returning home, he continued to dedicate his life to helping others.
A man with a servant’s heart, he became a pillar of his community. He served with honor as the fire chief of Dorr Fire Department, protecting lives and leading with unwavering commitment. His dedication extended beyond firefighting—he was an EMT, always ready to provide care in times of crisis. His compassion led him to serve in the Red Cross, offering aid to those in need, and as a proud member of the American Legion, he continued advocating for his fellow veterans.
Above all, Harold was a devoted family man. He shared a beautiful life of 55 years with his loving wife, Robin, who stood by his side through every adventure, challenge, and triumph. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and strong values. He was a guiding light to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always leading by example with his work ethic and strength. Harold leaves behind a legacy of generosity, bravery, and deep love.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Schumaker; children Michael Schumaker (Jenene) and Stacy Breimayer (Greg); grandchildren Jacob (Liz), Cade (Katrina), Jager, Kayla, Kenedy, Melinda (Jonathan), Drew, Piper, Margo, and Zach; great-grandchildren James, Edmund, Emery, and Ezra; many sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers, brothers-in-law, dear friends, and those whose lives he touched. He is now reunited with those who have gone before him: his son, Kevin; grandson, Colton; sister, Gloria; and parents Harold and Marian Schumaker, resting in eternal peace.
