

Hermina “Mimi” Vanden Berg, age 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, November 7, 2022 at home while surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerard D. Cooke; and parents Klaas and Lena Esselink. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jim Vanden Berg; daughters Lisa Cooke, Rachel (Dave Burt) Cooke, Connie (Gerrit) Sterk; sons Gerry (Brandy) Cooke, Jim (Terri) Vanden Berg; brothers Leonard (Lois) Esselink, Evert (Sue) Esselink; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
Mimi was born in Elst, Netherlands. She immigrated to the United States in 1958 and became a U.S. citizen. Mimi survived occupied Holland during WWII. She later attended school and Grand Rapids Junior College where she trained as a registered nurse, later working at both Butterworth Hospital and Pine Rest. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, golf, and especially her family. She was a member of Dorr Christian Reformed Church for over 50 years. Mimi will be deeply missed by all.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Dorr Christian Reformed Church, 4220 18th St., Dorr, MI 49323, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
