

Jim Fromer, age 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, July 4, 2026. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lillian Summerhill; brother, Lawrence Fromer. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Fromer; brothers Richard Fromer and Mark Fromer; daughters Sheryl (John) Kregel, Kathleen (Rusten) Bredeweg, and Susan (Steven) Sanger; grandchildren Brandon (Jeni) Fromer, Lance Dimond, Joshua (Emily) Dimond, Kaylynn (Charles) Hilton, Todd (Maria) Kregel, Austin Kregel, Lindsey Kregel, Justen (Maria) Bredeweg, Joseph (Amber) Bredeweg, Kelsie (Caleb) Yonkers, Elizabeth (Nickolas) Hilton, Jonathan Sanger, James (Kaitlyn) Sanger, Anna (Blake) Craft; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Born in Detroit, Michigan and raised on the family farm in Beaverton, Michigan with his sister and brothers. He spent his post-high school summer at Good News Camp, where he met the love of his life, Carolyn. After marrying, they made their home in Gladwin, Michigan where they raised a family of three girls. Together they enjoyed 62 years of marriage. After retiring from Dow Chemical, they spent several years in Florida, where he lived with a sincere boldness for Christ. A hard worker, committed follower of Jesus, and devoted family man, he always spent his time making things better for others. His love for his many grandchildren, Tiger Baseball, and U of M sports was evident to all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Green Lake Calvary Church, 608 145th Ave., Caledonia, MI 49316, with visitation from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. prior to the service. The family welcome memories and messages at www.kubiakcookdorr.com in their online guestbook.
