John was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Tillie Boersma; sisters Patricia Boersma and Delores McQueen; and stepdaughter, Julie King. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Elizabeth Jane Boersma; children Jennifer and Corey Wolters, and John and Cristi Boersma; and grandchildren Ayden Field, Brady Field, Jade Field, Avey Wolters, Ty Boersma, Sadie Boersma, Hunter Boersma, Wrigley Boersma, Danielle (William) Magoon, Dakota McNees, and Dylan (Sarah) McNees whom he loved and adored.
Above all else, John loved people. He had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcome, valued, and cared for. Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply showing up, he lived a life marked by generosity, humility, and an unwavering love for his family and friends. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved. He never missed an opportunity to support his children and grandchildren, whether on the sidelines of a game, gathered around the dinner table, or simply enjoying life's everyday moments together.
For many years, John was a familiar and beloved face at South Christian High School athletic events. He dedicated countless hours to coaching his own children, teaching them not only the fundamentals of sports but also the values of hard work, perseverance, teamwork, and integrity. Even after his coaching days ended, his love for athletics never faded. He remained one of South Christian's biggest supporters, faithfully cheering on athletes from the stands and proudly serving for many years as a member of the South Christian Sports Boosters. His enthusiasm and encouragement touched generations of students and families.
Professionally, John took great pride in his career as a tool and die maker at General Motors. His strong work ethic, craftsmanship, and commitment to excellence earned the respect of his coworkers throughout his years of service. John was the kind of man who rarely sought recognition, yet his quiet faithfulness, steadfast character, and genuine care for others left an impression on everyone who knew him.
Outside of work, he found peace in God's creation. He loved hunting and fishing, cherished time spent outdoors, and took immense pride in caring for his lawn. He appreciated the simple pleasures of life: quiet mornings outside, time with lifelong friends at Colonial Kitchen, and creating memories with his family.
Those who knew John will remember his steady presence, his servant's heart, and the genuine interest he took in others. He had a way of making everyone feel like family, and his kindness, encouragement, and unwavering support will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched.

His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and he will be deeply missed forever.
