Margaret Louise Iciek

January 1, 1929December 23, 2020

Margaret Louise (Reinart) Iciek, passed away December 23, 2020, just eight days before her 92nd birthday.

She was born January 1, 1929 in Monterey, Michigan to Henry and Anna Reinart. Margaret was a 1947 graduate of Allegan High School. After high school, she attended American College of Beauty Culture.

In 1950 Margaret married Stanley Iciek, and they were married for 57 years. Margaret joined Stanley at the Iciek Family Farm and began raising their family. Margaret was an amazing cook, baker, gardener, and gracious host, and she was a caring mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend.

Margaret began sewing baby quilts in 1973 and continued making those quilts for every new baby and grandbaby for years. Many of those blankets are fondly referred to as "Grandma Margaret blankets." Margaret loved children, from her own ten to all the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren. She was an active volunteer in the St. Stans’s cafeteria which combined her love of cooking and children. Even in her retirement, Margaret took a part-time job at the Hopkins Elementary School kitchen and lunch room. She loved being with young people.

Margaret will be dearly missed by her ten children Mark (Becky) Iciek, Bernadette Schafer, Roseanne (Jim) Madalinski, Therese Cook, Phil (Mary) Iciek, Jim Iciek, Tom (Tracy) Iciek, Celeste Linder, Laurie Iciek, and Christine (Eric) Muntter; 31 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her huband, Stanley Iciek; parents Henry and Anna Reinart; sons-in-law Milt Schafer, Mike Cook, and Jim Linder; granddaughter Elizabeth Rose; brothers Leonard and Henry Reinart; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 128 Cedar St., Wayland 49348, with visitation beginning at 12 p.m. Father Evelio Ramirez will be officiating. Interment will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

In honor of Margaret, contributions may be made to Benjamin’s Hope. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at

Margaret was a faithful and loving wife and a devoted mother and homemaker. For me, three memories of Margaret come to mind:
1. Champion baker of jelly rolls. How did she so perfectly take the flat sponge cake, lather it with jelly and then roll it up in a towel coated with powder sugar??!!
2. In the Fall, descending into the farm house cellar and observing a multitude of jars of canned fruits and vegetables. It was a spectacular display of color, precision and Margaret's hard work.
3. Resident Dermatologist -- If ever you had a question about any skin eruption (especially eczema!) just call Margaret and she would help you find the answers.

My memories of my aunt were all centered around the farm when we were young.

I remember my mother would visit n get flowers from her flower beds to help with the arrangements for the community fair.

I also remember a HUGE Kitchen n was jealous of thier large kitchen table. We had the same size of family but thier kitchen seemed to 3 to 4 times larger.

My last visit was with her about 3 years ago in Allegan. It was a nice 2 to 3 hour visit. She shared with me all the pictures of her huge and ever expanding family.

She was always proud of her many children grand children's n great grand kids.

We welcome all to share memories of Mom here. She touched so many lives in her almost 92 years. We also want to thank the staff at Ely Manor for their care and love over the last year. We also want to thank the staff At Briarwood when mom lived prior to her time at Ely.
