He leaves behind his beloved wife, Karen and dog, Peanut. Roger was a devoted member of the New Life Church in Wayland and enjoyed reading the Bible with his wife. One of Roger's greatest passions was riding his Harley. He was a member of the American Legion Riders Club where he rode with his longtime legionnaires and shared in the peace of riding on the open roads. He loved nothing more than taking his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren on motorcycle rides, sharing the sense of freedom that made him truly feel alive. You could often find him out for a walk with his dog or working in the yard, as he loved staying active and keeping busy. Known by many as '’Crash" or "Fighter" in his younger years, Roger was a true thrillseeker, relishing the excitement of racing and demolition derbies. His love for cars and motorcycles was passed down through the generations, with him frequently taking his children and grandchildren on rides or to car shows, sharing his enthusiasm for the adrenaline-fueled world he held dear.
Roger is survived by his children Robert (Carolyn) Haveman, Randy Haveman, Kristine (Mark) Althouse, Roger John (Jessica) Haveman; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary (Rodney) VanSweden; as well as nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Lena Haveman and sister, Diane Grover.
Friends may meet with the family from 9-11 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2025 at New Life Church, 160 Pine St., Wayland, MI 49348.
