We are heartbroken and saddened to share the passing of a beautiful person that so many have known and loved. Shelly Kibby, a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, quietly passed away November 14, 2021 after a five month battle with brain cancer. She was surrounded by her family in her final days and moments. Shelly’s generous, caring spirit was evident in her actions and all that she did for others. She will be missed by all those whose lives have been touched by her.
Those who knew Shelly, knew that her family meant the world to her. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim Kibby, in 1983. They recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. Shelly is survived by her husband and two sons James Kibby (Courtney) and Dana Kibby (Chy). Shelly’s pride and joy were her grandchildren. If you were friends with her, you know there was nothing that made her happier than spending time and loving on her littles - grandsons Greyson and Xander; granddaughters Cadence and Madisyn.
Shelly is also survived by her parents Ronald and Margaret Priest; sisters Laurie Aspeleiter (Dean) and Leaann Thomas (Lloyd); brother-in-law, Brad Kibby (Doris); and sister-in-law, Brenda Kibby; numerous nieces and nephews, a great-niece, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Shelly drove bus for Hopkins Public Schools for 15 years and spent her summers working at Beard’s produce. Summer weekends were one of Shelly and Jim’s favorite times. They spent many of them camping in Irons, MI with several of their dear friends. Fishing was always on the agenda while there, and there was always a competition of who got “The Big One.”
Shelly will be missed by many. Her legacy and spirit will forever live on in each and every person who knew her and she will forever be in our hearts and memories.
At this time there will no formal ceremony. Shelly will be cremated, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later time. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude for the amount of love, support, and donations that have been received during this difficult time. If you feel inclined, in lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
