OBITUARY

Vicki Lynn Avery

October 14, 1960February 15, 2021

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Vicki, our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, on February 15, 2021.

Vicki was born on October 14, 1960, in Greenville, MI to William and Nancy (Ohler) Lynema. She graduated from Wayland High School, while working her first job at Enza’s Pizza. She had a long and diverse working career, with her longest and most beloved job as a tax preparer for H&R Block. She loved getting to see her “people” from year to year. In the offseason from taxes, she enjoyed working in various roles at Sandy Pines. In her free time she loved growing flowers and feeding her birds - especially the hummingbirds.

Her homelife began when she met and married Tim. Together they have four children and thirteen grandchildren. Vicki was an enthusiastic attendee of Diamond Springs Wesleyan Church. There she forged deep and meaningful relationships that supported and strengthened her throughout her life and her illness. She loved people, and always wanted to be a help to those in need.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Tim; her parents William and Nancy; brothers Scott (Elizabeth) and Rusty; children Nick (Amanda), Eric (Hannah), Jessica, and Ashley; nieces, nephews; and 13 grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Diamond Springs Wesleyan Church at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to donate to Vicki’s funeral fund, you can do so via a gofundme at https://gofund.me/6083605e.

VICKY is remembered as a loving and kind cousin and person to so many people. A few years ago she told me she thought of me as a beautiful princess from when I married in 1972. I pray she knows how how special it was to me that she would say this and brighten my life. Memories of playing next door at the old school house are from my childhood.

Vicki is our cousin and will be missed by all my siblings. We all liked her through the years. Most of us are spread around, so we didn't see much of each other. But she was always in our thoughts.

I knew Vicky at Sandy Pines where she worked in the office and as a ranger. I worked in the Park and Garden store. She often stopped to pick up suet cakes for her birds. She was always helpful to newcomers at the gate. She was willing to help anyone who needed it. She will be missed by all who knew her. My prayers are with Tim and her family and friends.

Vicki and I worked together for several summers at Sandy Pines. She was a great encouragement to me and even wrote a recommendation letter for me when I wanted to get into grad school! One summer we even got pepper sprayed together as part of a training. I'm sad to hear of her passing, but I am peaceful knowing that I will see her again some day! My thoughts and prayers go out to Tim and her four children and many grandchildren. God be with you till we meet again, Vicki!
