

Funeral services will be held 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Willie Parker officiating and Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Shinn was born August 8, 1939 in Columbus, Georgia and lived the early years of her life there. She later met Edward “Bill” Shinn and they married in 1957. They traveled extensively throughout the United States during his military career. In 1974, they retired to Slocomb, where they lived the remainder of their lives. Mrs. Shinn was employed at Shoney’s, Barnhill’s, Golden Corral and also owned and operated The Cotton Patch Restaurant in Cottonwood for several years. Most recently, as the namesake of Annie Pearl’s Home Cooking in Taylor, she worked alongside her son ensuring the happiness of their guests. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lane “Bill” Shinn, Sr.
Survivors include four children, Edward Lane Shinn, Jr. (Sandy), Cynthia Ann Johnson (Marty), Jay Allen Shinn, and Michael Waldo Shinn (Nannette); seven grandchildren, Shanna Myers, Kandyce Turner, Kendall LaShea Johnson, Calin O’Neal Johnson, Justin Shinn, Emerson Shinn and Savanna Shinn; three great grandchildren; four sisters, Sally Shinn, Joyce Elinolf, Linda Tinkham and Nancy Thomas; several nieces and nephews also survive.
