David Lee Young

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2011 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary Cemetery (Gordon) with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 – 7 on Tuesday.

David was born August 20, 1943 in Midland City, AL to Mr. Lowis and Mrs. Callie Young. He joined St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U. S. Army.

He leaves to mourn his devoted wife, Mrs. Maxine S. Young of Dothan; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ozell and Lugean Smith of Gordon; five sisters, Rena M. Richardson of Miami, FL, Mary Frances Crosien (Wendy) of Clinton, MD, Florence Ingram (Booker) of Laurens, SC, Gloria Duncan of Dothan, AL, Maxine Bryant Harris of Rahway, NJ; one brother, Curtis Kennedy of Albany, GA; two sisters-in-law, Irma Reynolds (George) of Columbia, SC and Melverton Hogan (Booker T.) of Headland, AL; two brothers-in-law, Leroy Smith (Curlie) of Ashford and Danny Smith (Elizabeth) of Dothan; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
