
Deborah J. (Phipps) Blackman of Ozark, Alabama passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011 from a rare disease, dermatomyositis. She was born on May 9, 1956 in Dothan, Alabama. She married William Douglas (Doug) Blackman, Sr. on February 14, 1975 in the Washington D.C. LDS Temple for all time and eternity.
Deborah was a kind and gentle spirit. She was very talented and creative: she loved to sing, draw, garden and sew. She was a faithful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She served selflessly in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all her life. She was a Master Draftsman at Phipps Cabinets, Inc. in Dothan, AL.
Proceeded in death by her father, David E. Phipps, and brother, Clifford Phipps. Deborah is survived by her husband, Doug Blackman, Sr. of Ozark, AL; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Sara Blackman of Cumming, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Josh Lowery of Tallahassee, FL; son Robert Blackman of Salt Lake City, UT; son Brandon Blackman of Dothan, AL; and daughter and son-in-law Rachel and Caleb Sims of Marianna, FL; grandchildren Katie, Cole, Eli, and Cameron Blackman, and Kendra, Haley and Jackson Lowery; mother, Marian Phipps of Ozark, AL; and her brothers and sisters: Charles E. Phipps, Becky Godwin, Catherine Dippold, Linda Magnusson, Diane Shipley, Nancy Darley, Tim Phipps, Mary Bellamy, Dotty Jordan, Lori Mobley, John Phipps, Michele Schnobrich, and Frank Phipps.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 3199 Ross Clark Circle, Dothan, AL. Viewing will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011 at Byrd Funeral Home, 3409 West Main Street, Dothan, AL. She will be buried at Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Ozark, AL.
