

Hugh Graham King, a resident of Pinckard, died Wednesday night, November 23, 2011 at Flowers Hospital. He was 90.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Pinckard Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Pinckard Memorial Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Mr. King was born November 3, 1921 in Gordon Alabama to Grady and Kathryn Graham King. He attended Dothan High School and was in the first graduating class of Wicksburg High School. Mr. King was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Air Force. After his military duty he managed the family farm for several years. He then operated King’s Sand and Gravel for several years. In 1966, Mr. King established H & N Sewing Center in Jacksonville, Florida which he and his wife operated for 10 years. In 1977, they established Kings Appliance and Furniture Store which continues to operate today. Mr. King enjoyed farming and was a member of Pinckard Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Norma J. King of Pinckard; three sons, Howard (Stefanie) King of Dothan, Hugh (Virgie) King of Lynn Haven, FL, Ronald (Cynthia) King of Irving, TX; six grandchildren, Ben King, Sylvia King, Shane King, Chastity (Phillip)Blocker, Stephanie (Clinton) Mellerine and Ronnie (Melissa) King; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Margaret Beckham, Lucia (Ed) Driggers and Miriam (David) Suggs.
