

Graveside services with full military honors will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Hopewell Methodist Church Cemetery (near Opelika) with Rev. Jerry McAdams officiating and Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2010.
Mr. Hobbs was born on May 27, 1936 in North Carolina and lived the early years of his life there. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea before retiring after 20 years of service. He also was employed with AAA Cooper for 20 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Hobbs has been a resident of Newton for forty years. He was a member of the D.A.V. and Folkston Freewill Baptist Church in Folkston, NC.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Pauline Hobbs of Newton; his son, Steven Hobbs of Pensacola, FL; his daughter, DeLane Hobbs Daniels of Newton; one grandson, James H. Daniels of Montgomery, AL; a sister and 3 brothers, Lula Parker of North Carolina, Troy Hobbs of North Carolina, Jack Hobbs of Key West, FL, and Wayne Hobbs of Opelika, AL; several nieces and nephews.
