
James Michael “Mike” Lee awakened to the face of His Lord on the morning of September 19, 2011. Mike is to so many a good man, a good friend, and a good architect. To his family, he is a good Daddy and a good Pop. To his wife, Libby, he is a good, sweet husband.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service honoring Mike on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Ridgecrest Baptist Church directed by Byrd Funeral Home on West Main. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service in the church sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, Mike’s family requests that memorial donations be made to Cry of Africa Children, Cry of Africa, 2908 Pump House Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35243 or Hatch’s House of Hope, Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer, 1509 South Smith Street, Suite 7, East Ridge, Tennessee 37412.
Mike has lived and worked in the Dothan community all of his life. He was born on September 23, 1942 to James and Irene Lee. He grew up in Bay Springs Baptist Church and graduated from Wicksburg High School. Mike went on to earn his architectural degree at Auburn University. Upon graduating, he returned to Dothan to begin his architectural career at Waid and Holmes. Mike married Libby and together they raised their family and served faithfully at First Presbyterian Church. Mike and Libby later joined the family at Ridgecrest Baptist Church and were involved in fellowship and service. Mike managed his own architectural firm, J. Michael Lee Associates, for the last 14 years. His architectural accomplishments are scattered throughout the city of Dothan and surrounding areas. He will be remembered as a humble man who loved his family with his whole heart, worked hard, was honest, and served his Lord.
Mike is survived by his wife, Libby; his daughters and sons-in-law, Dimity and Alex Leath, and Mendy and Walker Wright; his grandchildren, Guthrie Hogan, Lily Mims, and Emmie Douglas Leath, and Sullivan Douglas, and Adelaide Elizabeth Wright; his brother, Lamar Bertram Lee, and his sister-in-law, Cynthia Lee, of Eufaula; his niece, Heather Marie Lee, of Ann Arbor; his uncle Maxwell D. “Max” Snell and his wife, Naomi, of Dothan; along with a number of dear cousins and extended family members.
Mike is preceded in death by his mother and father, James and Irene Lee, and his son, James Douglas Killingsworth.
