

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Byrd Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Wallace Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Dothan City Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. At other times the family will be at the Lucas residence, 1209 Circleview Drive, Dothan.
Mrs. Lucas was born September 17, 1926 in Chipley, Florida and lived the early years of her life there. She was a homemaker and a resident of Dothan for many years. Mrs. Lucas was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lucas is predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Walter E. Lucas, Sr.
Survivors include 8 children, Frances Fontain (Carl) of Destin, FL, Walter E. Lucas, Jr. of Dothan, James Robert Lucas (Jaquita) of Dothan, Edward Lucas (Remona) of Dothan, Benjamin Lucas (Donna) of Cowarts, Richard Lucas (Yamila) of Mobile, Ida Hagen of Dothan, Kay McKinney (Emory) of Webb; 20 grandchildren, Cynthia Harris of Valparaiso, FL, Walter E. Lucas III of Mobile, John Lucas (Angie) of Ashford, Ruth Ann Lucas of Colorado Springs, CO, Duncan Hicks of Birmingham, Morgan Hicks (Salina) of Webb, Scarlet Clark of Dothan, Edward Lucas IV of Pierson, FL, Bridgette Simmons (Eric) of Ashford, Alicia Dukes of Dothan, Benjamin Lucas, Jr. and his fiancé (Rita) of Starke, FL Jonathan Lucas (Jenny) of Birmingham, Brandi Decker (Chris) of Ashford, Scotty Lucas of Dothan, Richard Hagen and his fiancé, (Emily) of Dothan, Joshua Hagen of Dothan, Rebecca Hagen and her fiancé, (Nick) of Dothan, Brandy Hearn (Joel) of Navarre Beach, FL, Barry Boutwell (Sheila) of Ft. Serving as active pallbearers will be Benjamin Lucas, Jonathan Lucas, Richard Hagen, Josh Hagen, John Lucas, Morgan Hicks and Phillip Cheek.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Mae Ladies Sunday School Class of Bethel Baptist Church.
