

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Ashford United Methodist Church with Rev. Douglas Casey officiating. Burial will follow in Ashford City Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Wednesday Night Kitchen Fund of Ashford United Methodist Church, 500 Adams Street, Ashford, AL 36312.
Mrs. Hill was born January 31, 1934, in Dothan, AL, and lived her early life in Columbus, graduating from Jordan High School. While attending high school, she served as a majorette. She met and married James Carlton Hill in Columbus in 1953. They lived in Columbus for a short time before moving to Ashford in 1955, where she lived the remainder of her life. She loved flowers, gardening and enjoyed fishing. She was an active member of Ashford United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served as Secretary/Treasurer of the United Methodist Women. She was also active in 55 Alive at the Church.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, J. C. Hill, Ashford; one daughter, Joy Hill Daniel and her husband, Jerry, Griffin, GA; two sons, Jim Hill and his wife, Tanya, Pansey, and Ric Hill and his wife, Lisa, Ozark; five grandchildren, Drew Hill and his wife, Tammie, Opelika, George Adam Hill, Huntsville, Megan Hill, Auburn, Toni Hill and Derek Hill, both of Ozark; a great grandson, Ethan Hill, Opelika; a sister, Jolene Hawkins and her husband, Jim, Columbus, GA; one brother, Ben Harper, Ashford; two special friends, Jean Greene and Emily Fitch; several nieces, nephews and other family members.
Patricia Harper Hill, a resident of Ashford, died Saturday, May 1, 2010, at her home. She was 76.
