Violet "Bobbie" Hughes

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow in Hodgesville Baptist Church Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Bobbie was born to Sanford and Autumn Battles in Houston County, AL. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years, Jesse Hughes; sisters, Eloise Johnston and Rochelle Jackson.

Survivors include her children, Becky Efurd (Gaston), Donna Carr (Jimmy) and Randy Hughes, all of Dothan; four grandchildren, Jill Napier (Shawn), Kayla Trotter (Jeremy), Shawn Carr (Kala), all of Dothan, and Melanie Windham (Stephen) of Abbeville; nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Myra Breason.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, Bettye Johnston, Helen Hudgen, Karen Carrol and Glenda Coleman of Gentiva Hospice for their gracious love and care given to Ms. Bobbie.
