Virginia C. Forbus

Graveside funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Alexander City Cemetery in Alex City with Rev. Wayne Henderson officiating and Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 Tuesday night at the funeral home.

Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, P.O Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, 38148-0142, or Southeast Alabama Dance Company, 909 South St. Andrews St., Dothan, AL 36301.

Mrs. Forbus was born February 12, 1937 in Alexander City, AL to Chester and Gladys Cannon and lived the early years of her life there. She later moved to Opelika where she resided for many years before moving to Dothan over 10 years ago. Mrs. Forbus was a homemaker, a volunteer at Flowers Hospital and enjoyed traveling. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly and Dr. Roland Brooks and Tammy Woolf, all of Dothan, AL; four grandchildren, Seth Brooks, Andrew Brooks, Amy Brooks and Sarah Kate Brooks, all of Dothan, AL; and her special cat, Diana.
