Mrs. Lenora “Nora” May, age 91, of Ball Ground, GA, formerly of Douglasville, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. She was born in Paul Valley, OK, on January 10, 1929. Nora loved to do many things – crocheting, watching day-time television programs, bird watching from the living room window, camping, and fishing. She was an adventurous woman that was described as “a ray of sunshine.” Nora had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to tease her family. She would bar-tend while her husband held card games at the 19th Hole bar in Salinas, CA, and was always the life of the party. Nora loved children and “claimed” many kids into her heart and home. She had two cats that she adored: Pookie and Sweetie Pie. She also helped her daughter, Norma Jean, host many ceramics, woodworking, and cooking classes to individuals with special needs.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Archie Bullhenry May, I; 3 of her children, Ronald Lee May, Sr., Susan May, and Norma Jean Kern; her parents, Edgar and Beulah Johnson; 3 of her siblings Peggy Munroe, Robert Lee Johnson, and James Johnson; and 3 of her grandchildren, Lloyd Andrew Honea, Tamara Renee Hafer, and Jimmie Phillips.
Nora is survived by her only living daughter, Sandria “Sandi” May; her son-in-law, Edward Kern; her siblings, Imogene Schuessler, John Calvin Johnson wife Pat Johnson, and Bill Johnson wife Debra Johnson; her grandchildren, Ronald Lee May, Jr., Lenora Renee May, Archie Bullhenry (Catfish) May, II, Yolanda Lynn Heppes, Stephanie Flores, Michael Borodziuk, Kimberly Hendrickson and Amanda Andrews; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and other loved ones, family, and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home for a memorial service on Saturday, March 21st 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Rosehaven Chapel.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lenora’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org
