Aida is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Jessica Kalcso, and by her nieces, their husbands and children, many more friends, and all the children who came to know and learn from her faith, knowledge, and wisdom over the years.
Aida was born on April 21, 1930, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to the late Alcibiades Fuertes and Cora Fuertes. She eventually made her home in New York City, where she studied acting, even taking classes at the renowned NY Actors Studio, while also taking advantage of her formal education to secure employment as an X-ray technician, first at Elmhurst General and later at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, eventually becoming a supervisor, a position she held for over 30 years. During that time, she came to accept Jesus Christ as her savior, and her focus shifted to ministry, with a burden for children. After retiring, Aida became a missionary, and her church, All Nations Baptist Church in Queens, NY, commissioned her to the ministry in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Throughout her life, Aida was known for her strength, compassion, dedication, and great generosity to those around her and to the many causes she vigorously defended. Her years of service in healthcare and ministry reflected her caring nature and commitment to helping others. She will be remembered for the life she lived, the people she touched, and the memories she leaves behind.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow.
Aida will be laid to rest at Rosehaven Cemetery.
