

She was born on June 18, 1944, in Columbus, Mississippi, while her father served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Her family later moved to Atlanta, where she grew up in Capitol View Manor, SW Atlanta. She attended Sylvan High School (Class of 1962) and was a member of Capitol View Baptist Church. During a church outing to The Varsity, she met her future husband, Doug Pirkle, Sr., and they were married on June 22, 1963.
In the late 1960s, Anita moved to the Bill Arp Community, where she lived for 52 years. She was a member of Prays Mill Baptist Church and later on Central Baptist Church. She placed her faith in Jesus at a young age and is now eternally united with her heavenly Father and her husband.
She is survived by her son, Doug Pirkle Jr., and daughter-in-law, Tracey; son, Brian Pirkle, and daughter-in-law, Amanda; daughter, Sherri Pirkle; granddaughters Brittany Jordan and husband Chris; Amber Hagen and husband, Alex; Kristin, Laura, Addison, Avery, and Brooklynn Pirkle; great-grandchildren Braelynne Wallace; Peyton, Paxton, Dalton, and Tripp Jordan, Kennedy and Willow Hagen; brother, Rick Perry and wife, Grace; niece, Emory Perry and husband, Jake Gattari; and nephew, John Perry.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Central Baptist Church in Douglasville, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary. The family will meet for interment at 3:00 PM at Westview Cemetery, 1680 Westview Drive, Atlanta, GA.
