

Born on December 18, 1932, in Atlanta, Georgia, Barbara was the daughter of the late Joel Burton Aderhold and Mabel Overtyle Dunn. She was a woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and steadfast dedication to her family and her work.
She was a proud high school graduate who dedicated much of her professional life to serving as an executive secretary with The Baptist Home Mission Board. Known for her diligence, grace, and unwavering commitment to service, she earned the respect and admiration of all who worked with her. Her efforts made a lasting impact, and she took great pride in supporting the mission of faith-based outreach throughout her career.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. Her deep love for animals, strong Christian faith, and naturally sociable spirit defined her life. She brought warmth, kindness, and connection to every relationship and lived each day guided by her values and compassion.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Julius A. Davis, with whom she shared many cherished years, her sister, Faye Bell, and her granddaughter, Haley Sims.
Joy is survived by her sons, Kenneth Sims, Stephen Sims, and Cory Sims; daughter, Yvonne Garner, and grandchildren, Stephanie Shaw, Ryan Sims, Lindsey Sims, Brad Sims, Zachary Sims, and Molly Sims.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. from Whitley Garner at Rosehaven Cemetery, with Pastor Charles Gibbs officiating.
Whitley Garner at Rosehaven is honored to be entrusted with the services of Barbara Joy Davis.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that you donate to the Douglas County Humane Society in honor of Joy’s love for animals.
