Mrs. Betty Jean Bullock, age 80, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020. She was born July 18, 1940 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She was an extremely sweet and loving Mom. She loved helping others—if you met her, you loved her. She enjoyed learning and had multiple careers. While she was living in New Jersey, she was a model. She worked at Macy’s, where she was the manager of the Cosmetics Department, and at Arthur’s Department Store, where she was the manager of the Jewelry Department. Mrs. Bullock became a real estate agent, as well as a real estate investor. Not content to stay still, she continued her career working at Publix in the Bakery Department. In her spare time, she loved spending time with her family and was an avid reader. Mrs. Bullock loved her church, serving her Lord, and was a member of the Greater Elizabeth Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband of 35 years, James Bullock; her parents, Roger and Sadie (Dickens) Dancy; son, Michael Bullock; and a sister, Mary Ann Dancy.
Mrs. Bullock is survived by a son, James Timothy “Tim” Bullock of Ellenwood, Georgia; two daughters, Sharon Mayers of Lithia Springs, Georgia; and Allison (Joseph) Douglas of Douglasville, Georgia; four grandchildren, Shameka Grant, Jayden J. W. Douglas, Alexandria J. Mayers and Joseph J. Mayers IV; three great-grandchilren, Kayla Grant, Khloe Grant and Aden G. Venegas.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel. In accordance with COVID-19 restrictions, please remember to wear a mask and maintain a distance of 6 feet from others who don’t reside with you.
