Mrs. Carolyn Ann Dumay, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2019 at age 83. Carolyn was born in Greensboro, GA on May 28, 1935. Carolyn married Fred Ethridge in 1951 and together they had two sons, Donnie and Wynn Ethridge. Carolyn was a real estate agent and professor in property management. In 1985, Carolyn married Richard Dumay and moved to Charleston, SC to continue her career in real estate. Together they had a beautiful home on Ashely River where Carolyn exuded her passion for gardening. Carolyn has five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, whom she adored and loved with all of her heart.
Carolyn is survived by her two sons, Donnie (Brenda) Ethridge of Marietta, GA and Wynn (Karen) Ethridge of Douglasville, GA; her brother, Walter (Barbara) Davis of Augusta, GA; her sisters, Patsy (Ronald) Malcombe of Summerville, SC, Shirley (Max) Ellington of Harlem, GA, Barbara (Bobby) Webb, and Terisa (David) Donehoo of Lincolnton, GA; her grandchildren Lisa (Jimmy) Cruse, Stephanie Ethridge, Nikki (Devin) Vitiello, Jennifer (Joe) Grainger, and Tyler Ethridge; and her six great-grandchildren, Casey Johnson, Emma Ethridge, Hudson and Grayson Vitiello, and Henry and Duke Grainger.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project: www.woundedwarriorproject.org in honor of Richard A. Dumay: Vietnam War Veteran, Green Beret, and Purple Heart recipient.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 11 AM until 1 PM. A funeral service will follow at 1 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Nancy Morgan officiating.
