

He passed on April 24th, 2025 in Winston, GA, after a short illness.
David was an Eagle Scout in his youth and later served in the US Navy from 1963 to 1965.
Following his Navy service, he spent 26 years with the Atlanta Fire Department as a firefighter, EMT, and arson investigator, retiring as Captain in 1997.
David also attended Georgia State University and graduated with a degree in Physical Therapy, subsequently spending many years helping people with their rehabilitation.
In his spare time, David enjoyed square dancing and made many friends in various square dancing groups. Fellow dancers describe him as a gentleman who was always willing to help new participants.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alton R. Frix of Chattanooga, TN, mother Betty Travillian Fisher of Rossville, GA, brothers Gary R. Fricks of Alexander City, AL, and Tim Frix of Tunnel Hill, GA.
He is survived by his wife Becky Darby Frix, his son Joseph Frix, his daughter Teresa (Louis) Chieffo, grand children Lily, Addalyn, Louis, JR, and Trenton, sister Lyn Alexander and many nieces and nephews.
David’s memorial and celebration of life will be held at Whitley Garner at Rosehaven, 8604 Rose Ave, Douglasville, GA, on May 25, 2025, at 2pm.
