Mr. David H. Hollis, age 77, of Douglasville, GA passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019. He was born on March 24, 1942 in Torrance, CA. David loved to sail and sailed all of his life. He achieved a record and a win while sailing from Los Angeles to Hawaii in a race. He loved to ride motorcycles and camp in the desert. He attended Santa Monica City College for two years. He loved to sing, tell jokes, and talk to people. He was part of the Single Action Shooting Society where members dressed in western attire; he was known as “Deacon”. David served our country in the United States Army and is a Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Arthur and Carolyn Hollis and his brother, Steven Hollis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Jennie Hollis; his son, Arthur “Dave” (D’leen) Hollis; a granddaughter, Amanda Hollis; and numerous other loved ones, family, and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. A graveside will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Park at 12:00 PM.
