David Craig Oyler, age 63, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021. David was born January 22, 1958 in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. He loved spending time with family and friends. Known to be a great home chef, David enjoyed fish fry's and cooking delicious food for anyone who would eat it. An avid UGA football fan, he loved watching the games and supporting the team – Go Dawgs! In his spare time, David enjoyed fishing, golf, and hunting.
David was proud of his service in the Naval branch of the US military. He served in Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron Fourteen, according to the treasured, honorable records contained in Davey Jones’ Log Book. David’s clothes were often adorned with the United States flag and many of his often shared stories and fondest memories were of his time spent in the military, traveling the world with his crewmates and dear friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Virgil A. and Betty Jo (Whitehead) Oyler; brother, Bruce Oyler, and his beloved dogs, Gator, Ringo, and Skruffy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 39 years, Karla Jo Oyler; son, Craig Oyler of Dallas, Texas and son and daughter-in-law, Paul Oyler and Katie Kujala of Cumming, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Heather Oyler; sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Tilson Copeland; sister-in-law, Debbie Oyler; as well as his numerous friends and family whom he shared his life with.
