Ms. Denise Margaret (McKown) Newman, age 85, of Douglasville, GA passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015. She was born April 4, 1930 in Villa Rica, GA. Ms. Newman enjoyed playing the piano and organ as well as singing, especially hymns, and dancing. She was a member at the First Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church, both in Douglasville. She loved to read her bible. Denise retired as a high school teacher from the Douglas County Board of Education.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hershel and Ruby Newman and daughter, Jackie McKown.
Ms. Newman is survived by her sons, Curtis Hugh “Booney” McKown, Randy J. McKown, Dave McKown and Scott McKown; eleven grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 12:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Dr. Charlie Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Cemetery.
