Derinda Alberta Hall, age 84, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Derinda, known as Mama, Sister D, and Mother Hall, was a natural-born entrepreneur who started earl in Jamaica at her cook shop. She was skillful in growing her business and providing for her family. She was always cooking, praying, and entertaining and later in life, she grew to love traveling the world--including Jerusalem and Egypt. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and watching them grow and develop gave her tremendous joy.
She encouraged anyone who came into her presence and always shared her faith. Derinda would always speak to you in parables, and they would remain with you long after you left her presence. She wanted others to know the love of Christ and was very intentional about doing the work of the Lord. It did not matter where she was; on a train, in the bank, on a plane or at a birthday party, she would always shout her famous "HALLELUJAH"! Over the years, her faith continued to grow as she continued to study the Word and grow closer and closer to the Lord. The more she learned, the more she shared. She wanted everyone to know and experience the love of Jesus. She was indeed a servant leader who poured into the lives of others, and you walked away knowing you were touched by someone extraordinary. Once you knew her, you loved her, and she loved you.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruby Brown; bonus daughters, Joyce Davis, Jennifer Smart, Iona Crumbie and Margaret Clarke Grant; bonus sons, Ewan Crooks and Jeffery Crooks; granddaughters, Naomi Brown and O'reen Derinda Dixon; grandson, Jeremy Brown; sisters, Eudora Quarrie, Druscilla Patterson, Icelda Cover and Ivey Hall and other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
May her soul rest in in eternal peace and the light shine upon her.
The family will receive friends at Whitley Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home Friday, March 8 from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be held at Powerlight Kingdom Centre, Saturday, March 9 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Gardens.
